National Librarian’s Day
National Librarian’s Day in India is observed to acknowledge the contribution of librarians and the importance of library services in education and society. The occasion is associated with the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, widely regarded as the father of library science in India.
Libraries have traditionally played a central role in supporting teaching, learning and research by providing access to books, journals, reference materials and other sources of knowledge.
